Yes, absolutely. Our early radiologists in Orbit actually shaped this feature.
How it works
Each article you visit from an eligible peer-reviewed site counts for 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
To earn mammography-related credits, log into your Orbit plugin and use your Chrome laptop or desktop browser to review the latest abstracts and articles related to mammography (or tomosynthesis).
Popular sources include
- PubMed - abstracts
- PubMed Central - articles
- Radiopaedia - articles
- Major radiology journals - abstracts or fulltext
The Orbit plugin detects when you visit abstracts or articles from eligible sources, which you can redeem and tag with the Breast tag.
How much breast credit do I need?
This is MQSA policy enforced by the FDA with assistance from the ACR and other groups:
- 15 category I credits in mammography during the past 36 months (3 years)
- At least 6 category I credits should be earned in each mammographic modality used
by the interpreting physician.
Do credits in ultrasound or MRI breast imaging count for the MQSA requirement?
No. Ultrasound and breast imaging are not mammographic modalities.
Do I need to earn at least 6 credits in tomosynthesis as part of these 15 credits?
Yes, if your practice includes tomo. When you're earning your breast CME with Orbit, make sure at least 6 credits (12 articles or abstracts) cover each mammographic modality of your clinical practice:
- film mammography
- digital mammography
- tomosynthesis
Relative to what dates is the three-year interval counted?
The three-year interval is counted relative to the day of your annual MQSA inspection or the immediate preceding quarter. The easy way to stay compliant is to finish your 15 mammography credits now, and repeat them 3 years from now.
Will auditors have access to the exact articles and abstracts I used in Orbit?
Yes. Your Audit Report in Orbit will give any interested auditors a detailed rundown of which articles you claimed for credit, so those articles should reflect the required mix of modalities.
