If you are a doctor or physician assistant with a California fluoroscopy license, then yes. Our providers in California designed this feature to streamline their recurring fluoroscopy CME requirement.
*If you're a radiation technologist, your guidelines require that you pursue other activities for your license renewal. We hope to be able to serve you into the future, and we deeply appreciate your service in the radiology department.
How it works
Each article you visit from an eligible peer-reviewed site counts for 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
To earn fluoroscopy credits, log into your Orbit plugin and use your Chrome laptop or desktop browser to review the latest abstracts and articles related to your scope of practice in fluoroscopy from any of the major radiology journals, PubMed abstracts, and radiopedia articles.
About 15 minutes after your browsing session, Orbit processes the requests you've made through the plugin to receive credit for your article and abstract visits.
Dismiss the articles that are unrelated to fluoroscopy. Tag the articles that are related to fluoroscopy with the fluoro tag. You'll then be able to print a fluoro-specific certificate, as well as an audit report that provides a detailed rundown of which articles were claimed for the fluoro credit.
Hint: Read the HTML (fulltext) versions of articles and abstracts when you're using Orbit to earn credit, not the PDF version.
How much fluoro credit do I need?
- 10 fluoro credits over two years counting back from your fluoro license expiration date
- 4 out of 10 of those credits should relate to radiation safety in fluoroscopy
When you're earning your fluoro CME with Orbit, make sure your articles match that distribution. You'll want to aim for at least 8 articles and abstracts (i.e. 4 credits) in radiation safety in fluoroscopy.
Which articles should I read?
Explore abstracts in PubMed (free) that relate to your scope of practice and fluoroscopy.
