1. Open Google Chrome on your laptop or desktop
Find Google Chrome on your laptop or desktop. If you need to install it, get Google Chrome here.
If your hospital prohibits Google Chrome, you can also use these extensions with Microsoft Edge.
2. Install the Orbit and Ublock Origin Extensions
Once you have Chrome (or Edge) open, install two Chrome extensions (plugins):
- Install the Orbit for Chrome extension. Click here and then click "Add to Chrome". This extension detects eligible articles for credit.
- Install the UBlock Origin extension, which blocks ads. Click here and then click "Add to Chrome". This extension blocks ads, required by AMA standards
3. Pin your extensions
Pin your extensions so that they're visible (learn how).
4. Login to the Orbit plugin to track your browsing for credit
Check that you're logged into your Orbit plugin by clicking on the plugin to the right of the address bar on your browser (circled in red below).
Not logged in? You'll see this window asking you to login. Go ahead and click "Login".
Logged in? You'll see your name and email address in the plugin window.
When you do login, you'll be taken to an initial page on Orbit. You don't have to keep that page open. You can close it and resume browsing. Your browser extensions work in the background.
You're now ready to get started browsing! A great place to check out the latest abstracts in your field is PubMed, and articles in PubMed are eligible for credit through Orbit. If you use imaging in your practice, check out radiopaedia.org, which is used heavily by radiologists everywhere.
