Yes - Orbit can be used to completely satisfy the Quality Improvement (QI) Points requirement from the ABA. Read on to learn how.
What is my ABA QI Points requirement for MOCA 2.0?
You are required to complete 25 points every 5 years of an ABA-accepted QI project.
How do I complete these QI Points requirements with Orbit?
If you haven't already signed up, register for any Orbit Anesthesiology plan for yourself, or email support@orbitcme.com to set up an Enterprise plan for your group. Next, you'll complete 25 QI Points in Orbit by following these two steps:
Step 1 | Tagging Articles (15 QI points)
Description
Use the QI Points tag (up to 15 points every 5 years) when redeeming articles.
Instructions
1. Read any eligible abstracts and articles related to patient care while logged into Orbit. ex.) review abstracts from these search results for "anesthesiology" on PubMed.
2. Check for detected articles whenever you want. Go to your Earn tab and hit reload (⟳) on desktop or pull-to-refresh (👆) on iOS.
3. Redeem articles that you would like to credit towards QI Points using the QI Points tag.
Explanation
The first 15 QI Points (out of 25) that you earn in Orbit by tagging articles is accepted by the ABA for up to 15 QI points every 5 years, under the category of point-of-care learning. You don't need to select specific articles or abstracts - just those that are relevant to your practice. PubMed is one of many eligible sites, particularly helpful because it is free and comprehensive. Abstracts and articles from major anesthesiology journals are also eligible.
Step 2 | Compliance Dashboard (10 QI Points)
Description
Every Orbit Anesthesiology account (Micro, Basic, Pro, Enterprise) now has a Compliance Dashboard on the Earn tab that looks like this:
Use any combination of Orbit-earned CME or self-reported CME to fill up your requirements, and you'll earn 10 bonus QI Points. For more guidance, check out this post.
Explanation
The Compliance Dashboard is part of an ABA-Approved QI Activity focused on impoving MOCA 2.0 compliance. By quantifying your compliance, giving you clear feedback, measuring your compliance over time, and providing you paths to close your compliance gap, the QI Activity is designed to improve compliance for anesthesiologists across all practice types, from solo to large groups.
What if I'm audited?
Because Orbit is already approved for QI Points by the ABA, and your credits auto-sync to the ABA, there is no additional auditing required for these credits. 🎉
