In Iowa, physicians are required to complete 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two years as follows.

| Identifying dependent adult abuse |
2 credits within 6 months of employment 1 additional credit every 3 years |

| End-of-life care | 2 credits every 5 years |
Training must be related to end-of-life, not palliative care. Required for any physician who have provided or are expected to provide end-of-life care such as these specialties:
